Ruby's Rubies

I had Ruby's ears pierced today. I had to get rubies, of course, even though they are not her birthstone. She did pretty well. I don't think she cried for more than one minute. She was ready for a nap anyway. I like having them done while the gilrs are still babies. They are the cleanest they will ever be because I'm cleaning them all the time.

She is the prettiest baby!

ALL the brazilian baby girls have their ears pierced and it is the universal sign that your baby is a girl here. People refer to Marina as a boy even if she is wearing pink or a dress! When I correct them, they look shocked and say, "But she does not have earrings (brincos)!" I usually explain that in the States babies don't have earrings, but now you have gone and proven we wrong!! : )

Ruby's rubies are adorable!

Yeah, my dad had my ears pierced when I was 3 months old. I've never had a problem with them.

Earrings would look great on Marina! I started to say, "I'll go with you to have them done!", but I guess I forgot for a second that that's impossible.

yes i waited to have the girls ears pierced thinking it would be a special "growing up" event but my girls show no interest and every other girl in cambodia has it done at birth i think... people generaly thin we are weird any how so no big deal.
