I'm a workin' girl again

I'm back to working outside the home, but it's only for 4 hours a week. I'm still doing the same work of bookkeeping that I have been doing for our cabinet business, but now I am doing it at the shop instead of at home. It's really strange because working from home didn't seem like work because it was random and sporadic and was just another thing that I "did". Now it seems so official leaving the kids with a babysitter and going to the shop to work. We have been able to look at the business burning down as an opportunity to start over with a clean slate and get more organized. Me working at the shop is part of that. Our new babysitter is so sweet that the kids asked if she could stay longer when I got home yesterday. Lily asked her "Can you stay and watch over us and my mommy?" She is a young married girl that goes to church with us. The girls love having an audience so they played dance party and had a tea party and had lots of fun. I also got finished with my work early so I went to Wal-Mart all by myself. I did some brainless wandering and stayed for an hour without talking to anyone. I love staying home with my kids and homeschooling and I wouldn't trade it for working full-time for any amount of money, but I think this 4 hours a week will be great for everybody. Especially for Paul because he doesn't like feeling like he's overwhelming me with paperwork while the kids are playing at my feet and that nothing gets my full attention. This way, I can devote my attention to everything in it's own proper time and he doesn't have to spend extra hours at the office doing the bookkeeping and the kids get to play with someone new and have fun.

Sounds like a great set up for you guys. Maybe Paul can flirt with the 'book-keeper/secretary' too!

I like the flirting part, Jennifer, but sadly he's not really in the office all that much. Last week he wasn't there at all while I was there and yesterday he took a 10 min. nap on the floor while I worked at his desk before he drove to ATL to meet a customer. An employee saw the office door shut and asked if we were fighting or praying. Sums up or relationship. We seem to have more flirt time when it's on a teacher/principal level.

Well on with the 'school' then. I hope you guys have a great weekend and maybe 'school' (for the teacher and principal) will be in session for ya :)

I think it is great that you get some adult time....even if you are at the office working. There is just something about being in the car by yourself for 10 minutes, or walking through wal-mart alone that does a mommy good.

And I love the humor about the teacher/principal... humor will keep you healthy... along with good schooling of course!
